Material Studies
This series presents my research on different ceramic chemicals and the reactions they have with one another in the kiln. These chemical studies visually express the multitude of ways that a single chemical can be affected by the other contents in a glaze. Current works include A Study in Cobalt and A Study in Chrome.
Crystalline Works
In the same way that my Material Studies emphasize the relationships of ceramic chemicals, these crystalline works explore the interaction of temperature to chemicals in a glaze. By manipulating the temperature of the kiln throughout the firing process and the recipe of the glaze, I am able to create pieces that are bejeweled with crystals.
Stained Glass
Through the medium of stained glass, I am able to explore intimacy as I manipulate lights and colored glass to create an interactive experience of luminescence and color throughout the room and on the viewer’s skin.
